Air65 II: Generation 2 of the 1S Whoop
BetaFPV has introduced the successor to its lightweight 65mm whoop: the Air65 II Brushless Whoop Quadcopter. According to the manufacturer, the new version focuses on improved durability and specifically tuned propulsion configurations for different flying styles. BetaFPV states this is a direct response to community feedback regarding the crash resilience of the previous series.
Three Versions: Champion, Racing, Freestyle
The Air65 II is offered in three variants, differing primarily in motors, propellers, and weight:
- Champion Version (16.6g): The flagship for “Professional-Grade Racing.” This version uses the lighter “Air65 Champion Frame” (2.20g) and 0702 motors with 36000KV (dual-ball bearings). The motors are directly soldered here (“unsoldered”).
- Racing Version (17.7g): Equipped with 0702 motors with 30000KV and the standard “Air65 II Frame.” These motors utilize brass bushings and connectors.
- Freestyle Version (17.8g): Relies on 0702 motors with 25000KV for more torque in the lower range (“low-throttle torque”). This version uses GF 1219S 3-Blade propellers, while the other two versions use GF 1207 3-Blade props.
New Electronics: Matrix 5IN1 II FC
The core of all three variants is the new Matrix 1S 5IN1 II Flight Controller. It integrates a Serial ELRS 2.4G receiver and an analog 5.8G VTX (25-400mW). Special attention was paid to durability: The PCB has been thickened to 1.0mm and uses a “3-Point Mounting System” intended to provide cushioning during impacts. The integrated ESC now delivers 12A continuous and up to 18A peak current.
Frame and Canopy Updates
Both the frame and the canopy have been redesigned. The new Air II Canopy features an adjustable camera angle from 15° to 45° and claims to be more resistant to breakage. The C03 remains the camera of choice. Power is supplied via a BT.20 U-Cable Pigtail.
